That’s one hell of a lot of announcements and some of them were quite the surprise to see.
I have been hoping for a definitive edition of Hyrule Warriors to release on the Switch as well as a release of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Seeing both of these announced at the same time is great news. This also bodes well for people hoping for more rereleases of other WiiU titles as it shows that Nintendo is capable of delivering them.
The announcement of a Dark Souls remaster was unexpected but very much welcome since it means that PC players will (hopefully) finally get the version of the game that we should have gotten. I don’t expect it to be a free upgrade for existing owners and if the work done to make this remaster is impressive enough then I am fine with that.
More content for Super Mario Odyssey is always welcome (especially since it’s free) and it will be interesting to see how this new multiplayer mode works.
All in this was a really good Nintendo Direct and a great way for Nintendo to start the year. That’s one hell of a line up of games and most of them are scheduled for release in the first half of the year. I can’t wait to see what Nintendo announces next.
